A newly reopened Walled Garden is the central focus of this arboretum of over 100 acres. There are 5 individual gardens and a double long border blending traditional and contemporary landscaping and planting. This unique garden with one side open to the lake is planted for summer interest - on the opposite lake bank is a winter walk for the shortest days of the year. The woodland walks offer excellent wildlife watching opportunities. The Visitor Centre in a restored Essex barn houses a tea shop, information point and gift shop. Discover still lakes and a babbling brook, complete with bridges and cascades. A series of way-marked footpaths have been set out through the woodlands of Marks Hall. These include perhaps the best small-leafed lime woodland remaining in East Anglia and excellent oaks, chesnuts and beeches and some examples of the wild service tree. These paths link with the public footpaths and seats are provided to allow the walker to enjoy the views.
